Oh wow. What is going on here?
Now here is something special. Something eclectic, multifarious and other related synonyms. Tom Caruana is bringing the Beatles to Brooklyn with his full-length album, Enter the Magical Mystery Chambers. Download it for free from the aces music teacher.
You know how I know I am special? I came to the realization about a week ago that 'Beatles' includes the word 'beat' (as in music has beats), proving an apropos title. Same thing occurred with 'airport' in the not so distant past.
Success: A reevaluation.
People do interesting things for recognition and social rewards.
Some chase wheels of cheese down steep hillsides horizontally.
Efforts for recognition can be thwarted by unappreciative socio-cultural climates.
Individuals attempt to override feelings of inadequacy through compensatory actions.
Certain others rail against that which they most dislike in themselves (80% of men who are homophobic have latent homosexual urges).
Some are 'successful' in relaying their message, if they indeed have one, and in turn recognition may be bestowed upon them.

The proposition here is that the human brain is a machine for winning arguments, a machine for convincing others that its owner is in the right -- and thus a machine for convincing its owner of the same thing. The brain is like a good lawyer: given any set of interests to defend, it sets about convincing the world of their moral and logical worth, regardless of whether they in fact have any of either. Like a lawyer, the human brain wants victory, not truth; and, like a lawyer, it is sometimes more admirable for skill than virtue.
